About
First of all, thank you for stopping by my blog!
This blog is my home on the Web and contains my thoughts on the technology Zeitgeist. One More Thing is a reference to a phrase Apple CEO Steve Jobs uses near the end of his keynotes to heighten the drama, when he is about to introduce an interesting and unexpected new product or service. Similarly, this blog endeavors to cover interesting new trends even if they may not always be apparent. MidtownNinja is a nickname I gained from my habit of always finding the shortest and quickest path for walking through a throng of pedestrians in midtown Manhattan.
By day, I am a technology industry analyst with The 451 Group, where I cover the enterprise software market and advise vendor and VC clients on business models and go-to-market strategies. By night, I like to play with consumer Web technologies and platforms for various side projects, some of which represent nascent aspirations to entrepreneurship. My day job puts me in contact with several startups and investors, which usually leads to several interesting conversations. By night, I am an inveterate news junkie because of which I try to be on top of the conversations in the technology blogosphere. This blog captures some impressions on technology and innovation I have gathered in the process.
In January 2009, I’ll commence a new role at Longworth Venture Partners, where I’ll be an Analyst on their investment team. I’ll help out with finding interesting startups to invest in and helping structure deals with them, in addition to supporting Longworth’s portfolio companies with special projects.
As an undergraduate, I attended MIT, where I received Bachelors degrees in Computer Science and Cognitive Science and a Masters degree in Computer Science. I worked as a software engineer in the financial services for a few years, but I have since changed career paths. As an IT industry analyst, I have been quoted several times in the technology trade press and once in the New York Times. I like reading, taekwondo, cooking (and eating) good food and being close to nature.
Oh, and one more thing–the opinions stated here are my own and are distinct from and unrelated to those I hold as an industry analyst at The 451 Group. In general, my day job as an industry analyst will have first dibs on a topic in the odd case that it can be covered on this blog and at work; this blog is mostly an outlet for interesting things I see in tech outside my day job.
If you would like to use me as a sounding board for an idea, get a strategic or technical review from me, or if you just want to say hello, please drop me a line at vishy[dot]v[at]gmail[dot]com. You can also find me lurking on AIM or Twitter as midtownninja. I would love to hear from you!
